History
- Panzerschreck (in German the terror of tanks) was the popular name of Raketenpanzerbüchse (abbreviated RPzB), a reusable 88mm caliber anti-tank rocket launcher developed by Germany in World War II. Another popular name for this weapon was Ofenrohr (stove tube) .1 The Panzerschreck was designed as a light anti-tank infantry weapon, which, resting on the soldier’s shoulder, fired a rocket-propelled grenade with stabilizing fins containing a Hollow charge as explosive warhead. Its production was not as numerous as that of the Panzerfaust, a hollow load anti-tank projectile launched by a disposable tube that acted as a cannon without recoil.
